There is in this sloka elaborate comparison between the ocean and samsara. If you are a devotee of Shri Rayaru, there is no doubt you will know this song. Appanacharya as we all know, was the greatest disciple and also was very close to Sri Raghavendra Swami. At the time that Raghavendra Swami entered Brindavanhe was on the other side of the river Tungabhadra. Appanacharya wanted to be with his revered guru, but the river was flooding.

He jumped into the Tungabhadra, singing Sri Poornabhodha stotrarealizing that if Raghavendra Swami could lead him across the ocean of samsara, a mere river could not hold him back. And he did cross the river safely, only to see that Raghavendra Swami had already entered Brindavan.

Appanacharya was in such a profound state of grief, that he could not finish the stotra he had started to compose-it was missing 7 aksharas. These final 7 aksharas came from inside the Brindavan. This was the first miracle he showed after entering Brindavan, and even today miracles happen to people who go to Mantralaya Brindavan to seek his blessings. PalliReddy Venkata Ramana.Post a Comment. Guru Raghavendra Stotra. Also called Sri Poorna Bodha Stotra. Translated by. Guru Raghavendra is one of the greatest saints of the Dvaitha Sidhantha, He is considered as the incarnation of Prahladha. His early childhood was spent In Tamil Nadu and he attained jeeva Samadhi in Manthralaya Andhra Pradesh in the banks of Thunga Bhadhra, Just before entering Samadhi, Guru Raghavendra told his followers that he would sit in that place where his Brindavana would be built and they should cover him on all sides by Bricks and the last brick was to be placed when he stops rotating the Japa Mala.

At that times his chief disciple Appannacharya had gone to the other side of the river. He intuitively realized that his Guru was going to attain Maha Samadhi and rushed to the place to have a last glimpse.

This stotra was supposed to be composed by him when he was rushing to have a last glimpse of his Guru. The first stanzas of the poem are supposed to have multiple meanings. I have given only the simple meaning.
